The accused confessed to 17 criminal counts at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week

A person who spiked sweets with sleeping medication and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two children aged nine and 10.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person became sick at the facility in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.

However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.

The defendant was kept in jail before a further hearing on late November.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.

She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he ran.

The man played a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She told the court the man had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.

She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his stepchild had worries about the situation, for good reason.

"They chose" to investigate in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC stated objects including lubricant, ointment and syringes were found, and his family member contacted the authorities about his worries.

She said the defendant continued to play the "sweet game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"The police had not arrived by that point," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.

Mrs Prior said the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson notified the police once more.

She explained Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
