American Military Struck a 'Major Plant' in Venezuela, President Trump Asserted Lacking Offering Specifics.

Ex-President Trump has claimed that American forces struck a "large facility" in the South American country in recent days. But, the former president did not specify the precise nature or location of the strike, and officials have issued no further comment from his administration.

Unspecific Comments Made During a Talk Show

"We just knocked out – I'm not sure if you read – they have a major complex, where the vessels come from. The other night, we knocked that out. So we hit them decisively," Trump allegedly informed Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Implications of a Confirmed Strike

Should a US strike were to be confirmed, it would represent the initial ground target hit since the US Department of Defense began a buildup of US strike forces in the Caribbean region to halt drug traffickers that the Trump administration asserts operate under the orders of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The initial objective of the military buildup has since morphed into a quarantine aimed at disrupting the nation's crude oil shipments.

Online Footage and Official Statements

Trump has for some time warned that American military units are prepared to widen the military campaign by striking targets within Venezuela, a strategy that would theoretically require congressional approval.

Online video posted online on 24 December purportedly showed an blast reportedly from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. However, the footage or the facility has not been confirmed by third parties.

An administration official allegedly told a media outlet that the president was describing a drug facility in his remarks.

Response and Ongoing Military Posture

The Maduro government has not commented on the event Trump referenced. Additionally, there have been no independent reports from within the country about it.

The presence of US military in the region – a position some have referred to as a sea blockade – constitutes the most expansive maritime enforcement action of Trump's presidency.

Sources have avoided from calling the operation as a blockade, but have confirmed that approximately 15,000 troops are deployed across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to enforce existing sanctions.
